Idol results: Country singer McBride performs; six Idol finalists remains
Published by alicia April 18th, 2007 in Melinda DoolittleIt’s time to say goodbye for another Idol contestant once again. But before the journey for one of them ends tonight, we are treated with clips from fans about their favorite Idol singer, a recap of last night show and a Martina McBride performance and among other things.
Since Tuesday night show, word spread around the Internet about Simon comments on Chris’ performance and Simon wanted to set the record clear after a debate went on about whether or not Simon was rolling his eyes after Chris sends his sympathy to those affected in the Virginia Tech tragedy since he has friends living in Virginia as well. Apparently the camera caught Simon rolling his eyes but Simon defended himself by saying that he was talking to Paula during that time. A recording showed Chris’ comments and Simon and Paula differences on Chris’ voice sounding nasally or not. Simon said his apologies to end the confusion. Despite Simon’s cruelness otherwise, we know he is less likely to be heartless about something as tragic as the Virginia Tech deadly shooting.
Now that Simon got that problem off his chest, we are treated to another Idol group performance with all the contestants singing “I’m All Alright” on stage, with the girls sitting on the chairs, while the guys stood up; at the second half of the song, some of the girls and guys sat down. Also Ryan talked to a few people outside the Kodak Theater, where the finale will be held, asking them who is their favorite contestant and other things. Some say Blake for his beat-boxing, another mentioned Melinda describing her as humble and one guy thinks LaKisha should added a little “oomph” for the camera and Chris should be more sexy for the ladies. Maybe this guy should be hired on the show to give the contestants tips on how to work the camera and the audience.
Anyway, another Ford commercial is presented with the contestants singing ‘Flock of Seagulls’, ‘I Ran’, with an guy wearing a long coat running away with some Ford car keys but is finally catched by the contestants at the end. Next is the result show and the finalist is grouped in two groups, Sanjaya, LaKisha and Blake on the right, and Phil, Jordin Chris to the left. Melinda is left out the group, but is quickly told by Ryan that she is safe!!! But Melinda is put on the line like other past finalists before her; to go to either side she believed to belong in. Melinda at the end decided to sit down on the floor as the only one in the middle. Melinda showed class and did not decided on who suppose to be the “safe group”. Ryan told her to go to the left and of course, not surprisingly the rest is safe while the others is in the bottom three.
Before the final results of who goes home, the contestant’s works behind the scenes of ‘Shrek’ doing cool voiceovers. Maybe if this whole singing career doesn’t work, a couple of the contestants can try out as a voice actor for movies, wouldn’t be too bad at all. Before the show ends, Martina McBride performs her hit single ‘Anyway’ and afterwards brings her daughter on stage. Now back to the results, Ryan announces that Blake is safe and LaKisha and Sanjaya are left at the end. Who is going home, Sanjaya who works his magic each week or LaKisha, the powerhouse vocalist who can blow us away? Anything can happen at this moment but the person who is leaving Idol is Sanjaya. It seems that he over-stayed his welcome on the show but finally America got it right! Sanyaya seems like a sweet kid but his performance ‘Something to Talk About’, showed that he strained his voice all the way through and there is no point on keeping him on the show any further. Though he is my least favorite, I say good luck to him with whatever he pursues in his life. But the show must go on and the Idols soon get prepared for another week of singing and another spot as the show comes down to the wire.
