The competition is soon drawing to a close in one more month as there is only six contestants performing Tuesday night. According to Ryan, tonight’s show is a special one- since it is mainly focused on ‘Idol Gives Back’, the charity event which helps those in impoverish surroundings, particularly in Africa. The theme of the week is ‘Songs That Inspired” where each contestant chooses a song that drew inspiration to them. Before the finalists performs, Ryan shows more footage of ‘Idol Gives Back’ when Ryan and Simon both went to Africa where the people sadly lives in poor conditions and  many people were seen treated for malaria, one of the deadliest disease in Africa.

The next clip shown is Randy, Paula and Ryan indivually goes to a city in America to see those affected by a serious crisis, one way or the other. Randy traveled back to his hometown in Louisiana, to see the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, consoling those affected by the hurricane. Next is Kentucky where there is ongoing problem illiteracy among children, both Ryan and Paula goes to Atlanta (Ryan’s hometown) to fight the seriousness of homelessness. To take a break off the charity pieces that were shown, Melinda is the second contestant to sing after Chris’ wonderful performance. Melinda choose to sing, ‘There Will Come A Day ‘ by Faith Hill- Melinda reason to pick the song is because in her opinion the song reflects on the problems that exist in America but  there is hope for tomorrow.

Melinda poured her heart on the song, singing every note with feeling and passion and definitely drew inspiration to the song. The girl gives an amazing performance every week without missing a beat and earned another top spot once again. As the audience applauded with enthusiasm, Randy don’t know what else to say; just believed she finished another outstanding singing tonight, Paula says no one is like Melinda and she is just magical Simon laughed and told Melinda could she not look surprise, (she didn’t) and mentioned it was not a copycat performance but original, incredible and vocal master class.   Ryan presented another footage of ‘Idol Charity’; Ryan went to a feeding center where many orphanages were malnourished, but thankfully, many lives are saved where one-hundred and fifty children are fed a day and also have the opportunity to have a education and a start to a bright future. Simon went to ‘American Second Harvest’ in Los Angeles, Simon says it one of the best places he’d been in America, many volunteers take time out to help people in poverty by donating can goods and other non-perish food. Simon commented on the warmness of the people at A.S.H and said he had no idea that such problems exist in America.

As every Idol contestant did their part in participating for the ‘Idol Gives Back’ in their own way, us viewers at home to do our part which is to vote, which we all can vote by two different numbers for each finalist. As Ryan says, one vote can make a difference.
